Zaka'h on Precious Stones
Question
Title: Zaka'h on Precious Stones Question: Is there Zaka'h on Precious Stones like diamonds etc... Atif Sajid Answer: According to my understanding of the law of Zaka'h , one has to pay Zaka'h on his total wealth, which is neither in his personal nor business use, his production and his herds, if any. Because precious stones are clearly a part of man's wealth, therefore, there is no reason why they should not be included in the total Zaka'table wealth of that person. In my opinion, therefore, precious stones like gold, silver and money, should be included in the wealth of the assessor and Zaka'h should be paid on these stones. I hope this helps.
