Question

Title: Zakaah and Sadaqah Question: Assalamualaikum Can you clarify the difference between zakaat and sadaqah ? Are they used interchangeably in some places of the Qur'an? Thanks Asim Awan United States of America Answer: Sadaqah is a more general term implying charity. All kinds of charities, whether obligatory or supererogatory, are generally covered in this term. Zaka'h , on the other hand, is, generally, used for the obligatory Sadaqah only. Yes. The Qur'an has, in fact, used the two terms as synonymous and interchangeable at some instances.
