Question

Title: Why has the Qur'an Mentioned the Prophets of a Particular Region only? Question: I believe it is said in the Qur'an or Hadith that Allah sent messengers to all the communities of the World (from time to time). However, the Qur'an primarily talks about most of the prophets who were in the Middle East or North African region (Certainly all the major ones Ibrahim (AS), Nooh (AS), Moses (AS), Jesus (AS) were all in the above mentioned areas). Is there any particular reason for that? Also, is there any evidence that prophets were sent to places like China, India or the Americas (North & South). The reason I mention these areas is that they have large populations and almost cover over half the World populations. The Chinese and Indians have very old civilizations and the ones, which have been involved in shirk then wouldn't Allah have sent His messengers in these areas? With best regards Answer: It is true that according to the Qur'an, God sent His prophets and/or messengers initially in all the nations. This clearly implies that in all probability, prophets and messengers were sent among all the nations, including the Indians and the Chinese. Your observation that the Qur'an has only mentioned the prophets of a particular region is absolutely correct. The fact is that the Qur'an has generally not informed its first addressees of any messenger or prophet. On the contrary, the Qur'an has only referred to those prophets and messengers, who were either directly known to its first addressees - through their historical traditions - or were indirectly known to them - through the Israelites and the Nazarenes living in the Arabian Peninsula. I hope this would clarify the issue. May 30, 2001
