Question

Title: Who are the People Praised in Al-Hadeed 57: 10 Question: Who are the people mentioned in Qur'an 57: 10, and what is the "victory"? I believe that the people being mentioned are the emigrants of Makkah (including Abu Bakr (r), Uthmaan (r), Umar (r) and Ali (r)) and the victory is the Battle of Badr . Is this true? salaam alaykum Answer: The translation of the relevant part of the verse is as follows: Those who spent [money] and fought, before the Victory, are not the same as [those who did so after the Victory). Those [who did so, before the Victory] are higher in rank than those who spent [of their resources] and fought after it. Nevertheless, to all of them has God promised good (reward). And God is, indeed, aware of all that you do. ( Al-Hadeed 57: 10) The reference in this verse is to those, who believed and fought for the cause of God at a time, when the odds were apparently against their success. The 'victory' referred to in the verse is the conquest of Mekkah ( Fatah-e-Mekkah ), which opened the doors of the complete domination of Islam in the Arabian Peninsula. Yes. The names of the companions that you have mentioned are all among those who fought for the cause of God, before the final victory of Mekkah and the complete domination of Islam in the Peninsula. I hope this helps. May 17, 2001
