Title: Where Can People Consummate a Marriage? Question: I have a question if I get married in my home country and me and my wife have a marriage contract then can I take here to a honeymoon in my country for example a hotel and have intercourse even so that she doesn't live at my home because it may take some time for her to get paper to move over here because I live in another country. If it is forbidden then please give me a reason from the Qur'an or Sunnah. Answer: The fact that your marriage is legal and valid then no one may forbid you from having your honeymoon wherever you please. Even if you live in a different country you may consummate the marriage anywhere you choose so long as it is in a decent environment, which means that you cannot be out in the open where people can see you or some other place where one's modesty is compromised.
