What Happens to the Nikah (Marriage Contract) if I Don't Attend Friday Prayers?
Question
Is it true that if married men miss the Friday prayer three times it affects the nikah? Where me and my husband live we had 2 masjids. One got attacked and burned down last year the other one is only open on Saturdays. What can we do?
Answer
The nikah (i.e. marriage contract) is only affected by the decisions made by the married couple. Not going to the Friday congregational prayer has no affect on the marriage whatsoever. Your circumstances are such that are beyond your control so pray the Friday prayer as a regular duhr (i.e. midday) prayer, as you do on any other day. You bear no burden for things that are beyond your control. I hope I have clarified the issue. God knows best. Ronnie Hassan March 15, 2005 Answer published by Ronnie Hassan
