Title: Using Perfumes with Alcoholic Contents Question: Please give your viewpoint about alcoholic perfumes. Is there use allowed or not? Answer: The Qur'an has prohibited Khamr (intoxicants or alcoholic beverages) for drinking. Using spirit for any other purpose, for example as an anti-septic, is not prohibited. By the same token, the prohibition of alcohol does not apply to use of perfumes with an alcoholic content. Obviously, if a crazy person starts drinking such perfumes as intoxicants, such an act shall now come under the prohibition of the Shari`ah . 11 th June 1999
