Time of Adam According to the Qur'an

Question

Time of Adam According to the Qur'an Vs. According to Archaeological Data The creation of Adam as described in the Holy Book is so non-scientific that it totally leaves me sinking in a deep sea of confusion. Was Hazrat Adam really the first man on earth? If that is true, then the evolution of man on this planet dates to about 10000 years back, as some one has calculated the age of Adam. But the human fossils found on the earth date to a few million years ago. So these things are contradictory. Reply To begin with, I presume that "Holy Book" in your statement, refers to the Qur'an. If that is really the case, then I must clarify something, which itself should be an answer to your question. The Qur'an does state that the name of the first human being to have lived on the face of this earth was Adam. But, besides this information, the Qur'an does not give any data regarding how long ago did this beginning of the human race take place. Thus, even if archaeological data and analysis that place the begining of the human race millions of years ago, are held to be accurate, they do not, in any way negate or contradict the information given in the Qur'an. People who have tried to assess the time of Adam, have done so not on the basis of the information provided by the Qur'an, but on the basis of the Bible. I have tried to answer your question very briefly. Please feel free to write back in case any thing remains unclear. I hope this helps. The Learner
