Question

Title: The Last Day Won't Be Tomorrow Question: Allah says in Quran that nobody will know when Last day occurs and that it will occur suddenly. But Hadith say Last day will occur only after minor and major signs takes place of which some of them are happening now. That means we can definitely say that Last day will not occur say tomorrow. My friend says wont this contradict the statement 'nobody will know when Last Day occurs'.? Thank you. Was Salaam. Answer: If the statement is "no one will know when it occurs" then saying when it "will not occur" on so and so day does not necessarily apply here. Both statements do not refer to the same thing. However, let us entertain further what you have noted. Whatever signs that are occurring, whether major or minor, may point to the eventuality of the Event yet does not in any way pinpoint when it will actually occur. Another point that needs to be made is that the "major" signs may occur much faster than we could fathom and the Day will still come abruptly. Thus, you or your friend may guess that it will not arrive tomorrow but surely neither of you could guarantee that it will not occur tomorrow. I hope I have clarified the issue. God knows best.
