Title: The Concept of Jinn Question: I am 30 female unmarried working lady. I have done MBA & alongwith that a diploma course of Quran & Hadith from Alhuda Internationals.i hired a car for my pick and drop.uncle is very nice person.ones i told him that might be i will leave the job.he said dont do this until you get married.the very next day he told me that there is a hinderance in your marrige as somebody put a line to stop my marrige.then he told me that we have jinnat under our control and they know each and everything about what we want to find out.he then asked me to give some amount for their food(langar) and we will remove this line.i really dont believe these thing as i have a faith and belief in ALLAH as he he all powers and nobody else can do this and hadith also proves that dont go near them as they are satin related works.my questions are: what is the concept of jinnat in our lives? what should one do if somebody has done something upon him/her? should i go for any removal of this magic(jadoo)? i hope you understand what i want to convey..looking for your response Answer: I would like to commend you for your strong will and faith in God especially in the face of such futile attempts to swindle you. The situation you mention seems to be nothing less than a scare tactic leading to a scam. Following are the replies to your specific questions: Jinn are a race of incorporeal (to us) beings that live in another dimension on our plane of existence. They have free will and are much like humans in that sense. They are known to have some supernatural powers in our world but make little contact with us. The fact that they are spirit-like it would be hard to fathom why they would need our food to eat. We should always seek God's protection and do all we can to be righteous. Also, there are two surahs in the Qur'an called Al Falaq (The Dawn) and Al Nass (The Mortals) that directly relate to seeking refuge and security with God. The strong faith that you seem to have should insha'Allah assist in guarding you against people's evil ways. There seems to be no magic or anything of the sort in this situation. If you keep to God's way you will be protected by His will. I hope I have clarified the issue. God knows best. Ronnie Hassan February 7, 2007
