Question

The Age at Which Fasting Becomes Obligatory... At what exact age is fasting compulsory? M, Pakistan Reply The Qur'an or the narratives ascribed to the Prophet (pbuh) do not directly mentioned any specific age at which fasting becomes obligatory. However, the basic Qur'anic principle that all religious injunctions and directives are addressed to people who are mature - physically, emotionally and mentally - and are in the right physical and mental condition, suggests that when a person reaches puberty he/she should start following the directive of fasting.
