Question

Tell Me More About Islam... Sorry for my ignorance, but can someone share with me more about Islam? Is it a religion or a belief? Its history? Any websites I can visit? I am not wrong, there are 2 distinct sects of Islam is it? Are there the Suni and the Shiite? Please correct me if I am wrong. Please share with me more. Thank you and have a nice day :) regards. Reply As a 'particular system of faith and worship based on such a faith', Islam can be termed as a religion. According to the Islamic belief, the history of Islam is as old as that of man's. Literally meaning 'submission to God', it holds that all the prophets of God, be it Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael, Jacob, Joseph, Moses or Jesus were prophets of Islam. All of them introduced man to the same basic teachings of the All-Knowing God. All of them invited man to 'submit to God' and were therefore messengers of Islam. The last among these messengers, according to the Muslim belief was Mohammad (peace be upon him). From the family of Ishmael (son of Abraham) he was born in the Arabian peninsula in 576 AD. During the twenty-three years of his ministry, Mohammad (pbuh) was given God's revelation. This revelation was later on compiled and arranged, according to God's directives, and transmitted by the companions of the Prophet through the perpetuation of every subsequent generation of Muslims all over the world to the present times. A basic introduction of Islam can be seen in one of my previous responses . Yes, there are two sects in Islam. I hope this helps. In case any question remains unanswered or if any further detail is required on any specific aspect, please feel free in writing back to me at your own convenience. May the Almighty guide us all to the path of His liking. My fondest regards to you and those around you. The Learner
