Some Questions On the Payment of Zaka'h
Question
Title: Some Questions On the Payment of Zaka'h Question: I wanted to know about some ways in which you can use your Zaka'h . If you find out that one of your relatives is having a hard time making ends meet (but not necessarily a poor person), can you use your Zaka'h money to help him. Can you use your Zaka'h money to buy things for general maintenance of a mosque, or build a mosque. Give Zaka'h money to help some one you think is poor and needs money. When you help someone with your Zaka'h money, do you necessarily have to tell them that this money is from your Zaka'h . Your urgent reply will be appreciated, if possible. Thank you. Salaam Mohammad Karim Answer: My answer to your first three questions is 'Yes'. As for your fourth question, when Zaka'h is being given to individuals or groups other than the state, it is not necessary to inform the recipient that the funds that he is being given is on account of Zaka'h . I hope this helps. Regards, Moiz Amjad November 2, 2001
