Islam has not given any separate code for a situation where divorce is initiated and requested by the wife. In my opinion, therefore, all the rules given in the Shari`ah for ordinary cases of divorce - including directives relating to the waiting period - shall also apply to cases where the wife, rather than the husband, has requested for divorce.
