Qur'an in Lawh-e-Mehfooz - Al-Burooj 85: 22
Question
Title: Qur’an in Lawh-e-Mehfooz – Al-Burooj 85: 22 Question: It is said that the Qur’an was already preserved in "Lawh-e-Mehfooz" but sent down in parts as per requirement. You wrote in response to a question regarding "On the Revelation of the Qur'an": "The Qur'an was revealed gradually, so that it would be easier for the people to understand it, and change their lives accordingly. It is difficult for the human mind, because of its inherent limitations, to grasp all the details of a newer concept in all its details in the first instance." If we look at Qur'an, one can to some how divide it into four parts: Part that deals with the previous history of religion i.e. references to previous prophets etc Part that deals with the praise of Almighty, Day of Resurrection, Heaven and Hell and Warnings. Part that deals with the Guidance and Law of God for Humans in their life. Events that took place in the life of our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) i.e. battles, answering questions and allegations raised by Quraesh and Jews, etc. As far as the first three parts are concerned I do agree that can be part of Qur'an in Lawh-e-Mehfooz . But the events those took place in the life of our prophet (pbuh) can only be present on the basis of the God being Omniscient. I would like to know what is your view on "Lawh-e-Mehfooz" ? Is it true? If it is true then am I right about the events in the life of our prophet (pbuh) and God being Omniscient? Jazzakallah khairun Nauman Ilyas Answer: First of all, I would like to clarify that I am not, in any way, contesting the point that God is omniscient. God, indeed, is omniscient and nothing - absolutely nothing - is beyond the scope of His knowledge. Nevertheless, as I understand it, the reference to "Lawh-e-Mahfooz" [1] , in the Qur'an, is not related to God's omniscience. On the contrary, it is a declaration of the security of the Qur'an from all kinds of satanic interferences and interpolations; It is a declaration of the fact that the Qur'an comes from a source, which is guarded and protected against all kinds of unauthorized inclusions. I hope this helps. Regards, Moiz Amjad March 20, 2002 [1] Literally: "A secured tablet".
