Advise me Saffahussain Pakistan Answer: Thank you for your encouraging remarks on our presentation. I do not recommend any Wazifa [1] for any purposes, as people are prone to taking the words recited in the Wazifa as some magical words, which will somehow fulfill our heart's desires. The practice of reciting Wazifa - even if it is sometimes effective - rarely promotes the recommended spirit in our relationship with the Almighty. On the contrary, I would recommend praying and supplicating from the depths of our heart, asking God for His abounding mercy and grace in the fulfillment of our needs and desires. Nevertheless, while praying to the Almighty, there are a few things which we should consciously keep alive in our hearts and minds. First of all, we must never lose our faith and trust in the Almighty. We must never forget or even doubt the fact that our Creator and Controller loves us and cares for us even more than we can imagine. We must always remind ourselves that our Lord is not only fully aware of our problems but also has also the power to solve these problems in the most appropriate manner and that His decisions, based on His absolute wisdom and mercy, are most suited for us. Secondly, with the stated attitude and the stated reliance on our Lord, as a show of servitude, trust and dependence on Him, we should pray to the Lord to provide mercifully for our needs and desires. Our prayers and supplications can be in any language. We must remember that our relationship with the Lord is not restricted by any language barriers. Thus, while praying to the Almighty, we may, without any inhibitions, ask for all that we need in our own language. Thirdly, even though there is no restriction on the time at which we can pray to the Almighty and request Him to provide for our needs and desires, yet during some times of a day a person is naturally closer the Almighty than at others. It is, therefore, recommended that we pray for our greatest desires, from the perspective of this world as well as from that of the hereafter, at these times. The most significant times of the day, from the stated perspective, is the time when one is offering Sala'h , especially the Tahajjud Sala'h . In our Sala'h , there are specific times when can offer one's supplications. These times include the time when one raises his head from the Ruku` , during Sajadah , and while sitting in the Tashahhud . At these times during one's prayers, one may offer any and every supplication that may come to one's mind. Keeping the stated points in perspective, I would recommend that you pray to the Almighty in words that flow out of your heart and soul, in your own language [2] . Do not search for any 'magical words', wazifas or prototype supplications. In your supplications, ask for God's infinite blessings during the life of this world as well as during the eternal life of the hereafter. Always remember that God's mercy and grace is extremely close to those, who carry out His directives in the best of manners ( Surah Al-A`raaf 7: 56). I hope this helps. Regards, Moiz Amjad July 20, 2002 [1] Generally Arabic words of supplications which are repeated over and over again with the concept that doing so shall help fulfill the desires and needs of the individual. [2] For a concise supplication taught by the Prophet (pbuh) for this purpose, please refer to of my earlier responses titled " Praying for the fulfillment of a Need ".
