Question

Title: Pakistani Funeral Question: Our neighbor passed away and the family has invited us to a memorial service at their home what is customary to bring to such a event Answer: There is nothing that is religiously customary to bring to a funeral. There are different cultural standards and it might be beneficial to know those customs. Typically, flowers are acceptable in many cultures and would pose no offense in general. Nevertheless, a true gift would be earnest condolences and heartfelt prayers. A few words of respect and consolation related to God's will and mercy could be a most beautiful gift. Your mere presence is a gesture of goodwill and a symbol of honoring the deceased on their journey to the next life. I hope I have clarified the issue. God knows best. Ronnie Hassan April 6, 2007
