Question

Title: Open Invitation Offered in Peace Question: I am a professor of philosophy and religion at a small liberal arts college in New York. In view of recent events, paramount among my concerns is backlash against Muslims based upon sheer ignorance. Next week, I will be addressing the student body (together with my colleagues) on the subject of the true nature of Islam, a religion whose nature is that of peace and submission rather than rage and hostility (of course, a deeper explanation if Islam than just that will be given!). My purpose for doing so (at the request of my colleagues) should be obvious to all concerned with the content of this forum - to stem the tide of ignorant anti-Muslim opinion. Now the point: If I may be so bold, I would like to offer an invitation to any persons who frequent this forum, especially Muslims, to write me at my campus e-mail ( chanson@cazcollege.edu ), offering whatever messages you feel appropriate in light of the recent heinous events. Please keep in mind that I will be speaking on the peacefull and submissive nature of Islam, and that my time is limited. But I firmly believe that the addition of messages by a world-wide array of Muslims may personalize the message I have to deliver, making it all the more impacting. I understand that the hosts of this site may have concerns about the authenticity of this message. If so, please contact me in whatever manner you feel appropriate, and I would be glad to share my office phone number or other information. Peace be with you. Craig chanson@cazcollege.edu cd.hanson@worldnet.att.net Answer: I am posting your invitation on the website for the benefit of all those who may wish to contribute to your endeavor. My fondest regards and wishes for you. Moiz Amjad September 19, 2001
