One of the Prophet's Visions
Question
Title: One of the Prophet’s Visions Question: What is your interpretation of the narrative in Mu’attaa in which the prophet saw Jesus and Dajjal circumambulating the Ka`bah ( Kitab-Jaami` )? Dr M Asif Answer: As I had stated in one of my earlier responses, the Arabic word 'Dajjal' is an attributive noun implying the 'great betrayer'. The word 'Dajjal' in most of the narratives ascribed to the Prophet (pbuh), on the subject, has been rendered as ' Al-Maseeh al-Dajjal ', implying the 'Christian betrayer'. This seems to be an indication that the referred 'betrayer' would apparently ascribe to the Christian creed. The referred vision of the Prophet (pbuh), as reported in the Mu'atta of Imam Maalik , probably signifies that the Christian betrayer would also take control of the Ka`bah . It should nevertheless, be kept in mind that such visions are symbolic in nature and their true interpretation may only be correctly understood, when it manifests itself in the physical world. I hope this helps. Regards, Moiz Amjad December 12, 2001
