Non Repentance of Satan
Question
Title: Non Repentance of Satan Question: In your early response to a question regarding "Why did Iblees - Satan - Disobey God?" You wrote "his arrogance and haughtiness not only hindered him from carrying out what God had directed, but also led him proudly reject seeking forgiveness from his Lord." My question is: How can someone disobey God when he has not only seen Him but also has a direct conversation with Him and has been warned of extreme punishment by Himself? Satan does have a life span of all the human beings till the end of world and he has no doubt about God's existence and His eternal punishment like humans some times do in their despair. What do you think why Satan does not repent even now and save himself from the eternal punishment? Or Satan does not have a fear of death or punishment? Jazzakallah khairun Nauman Ilyas Answer: The only information that we have in this connection is that Satan disobeyed God, being driven by his arrogance and pride. As a result of this transgression, he deserved to be sentenced to the severe punishment of God, immediately. However, God decided to give him respite till the Day of Judgment. As per my understanding, a short answer to your question is that till the time he died - or if he still lives on, then till the time he dies - Satan remained a victim of his arrogance and pride, which kept him from accepting his mistake and seeking forgiveness from God, irrespective of the consequences of this transgression. I hope this helps. Regards, Moiz Amjad March 18, 2002
