Question

Title: Meat of Halaal Animals Slaughtered in US Question: I want to be specific not general that you have discussed in answering this kind of questions. Please let me know that the chickens slaughtered here in US (i.e. by Jhatka ) are Halaal or Haraam ! Thanks Answer: My dear brother, I do not have a direct and first-hand information about the nature of the general slaughter of animals in the US. It would, therefore, not be prudent on my part to give a specific opinion about something which I am not directly aware of. In view of this fact, I would restrict myself to explaining the stipulations of the Shari `ah , which relating to the slaughter of Halaal animals are as under: Animals should be slaughtered in such a way that their blood is drained out of their carcass; At the time of the slaughter of the animal, the slaughterer should mention God's name upon them; and The slaughterer should not knowingly ascribe to polytheism. If an, otherwise Halaal , animal is slaughtered in such a way that all the three stated conditions are fulfilled, then a Muslim may eat of its meat. On the contrary, if any one or more of the stated conditions is not fulfilled, then a Muslim should not eat of it. I hope this helps. Regards. August 23, 2001
