Question

Title: Is my Marriage Still Valid? Question: I got divorced in February 16 of 1999. We got back together with no other marriage contract before the waiting period was up. Till today I'm still confused and I want to make sure I'm not committing any sins. We've been sleeping together since then. Am I considered still married or divorced. Please help me understand this. Do I need to have a new marriage contract? Hayat mounir Answer: After the pronouncement of divorce, the husband may review his decision within the prescribed waiting period of the woman. If, however, the waiting period has already expired, even then the two may be reunited through a new marriage contract. If you and your husband got back together within the time of your waiting period, then you did not require to get into a new marriage contract. In view of the information provided by you, it seems that your Nikah (marriage contract) is fully valid. Your husband has, however, used one of the two opportunities of reviewing his decision of divorce after pronouncing it. If such a thing happens a third time, then you shall lose all chances of reunion [1] . Both you and your husband should exercise more prudence in future. I hope this helps. Regards.
