Is it Necessary to Renew Ablution after Touching One's Genitals?
Question
Title: Is it Necessary to Renew Ablution after Touching One's Genitals? Question: Touching of genital organ, after shower for example invalidates wudhu according to a few ahadith (also Shafii school of thought) and does not according to one other ( Hanafi school). In your article [in Urdu], you did not mention this as one of the things that can invalidate wudhu . Please clarify. Answer: There is no need to renew ablution after touching the genitals in normal circumstances. However, if there has been a discharge of secretions, then ablution would be necessary. In this condition if the person is unsure of any discharge then it is better to do ablution whether one has touched the genitals or not. It seems that even if this directive is correctly ascribed to the Prophet (pbuh), this is the specific situation in which the Prophet (pbuh) directed to do ablution. It should be remembered that all such things that necessitate the renewal of ablution have been transmitted to us through the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) and have only been mentioned in narratives ascribed to the Prophet (pbuh). These things only include excretions. They do not include touching any part of our bodies. The fact that even a number of companions of the Prophet (pbuh) have been reported to negate the necessity of ablution after touching of genitals clearly shows that ablution after touching of genitals is not a part of the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh). I hope this explanation answers your question. You can always get back if you are still unclear. May Allah guide us all towards the right path. Note : This response is written by Mr. Amar Ellahi Lone
