How is the Prophet Daniel Recognized In Islam
Question
Title: How is the Prophet Daniel Recognized In Islam Question: The Bible tells the story of Daniel in the lion's den. Is there a similar story in the Koran or within or Islamic scriptures? Daniel Herr Saudi Arabia Answer: The Prophet Daniel is not mentioned in the Qur'an. Regards, Moiz Amjad September 3, 2001 A Follow-up Question I recently asked if Daniel was mentioned in the Koran, and you responded that he is not. While I referred to him as Daniel, your reply referred to him as 'The Prophet Daniel'. If Daniel (PBUH) is considered a prophet in Islam, what is the basis for this if there is no mention of him in the Koran? Thank you for your prompt reply to my earlier question. Regards Daniel Herr Saudi Arabia Reply The Qur'an has, generally, confirmed that the books of the Torah and the Prophets were, in fact, revealed by God. In view of this general confirmation of the Qur'an, the Muslims do not reject the prophethood of the prophets mentioned in the Old Testament. Daniel is, thus, referred to as a prophet, based upon the information entailed in the Old Testament, which is not expressly refuted by the Qur'an. I hope this helps.
