In the beginning I used to get more info in this religion of Islam but never ever prayed because I never knew how to pray. Many a times I had asked my husband to teach me but he would say I will get someone to teach you. Days passed months passed years passed. But I really used to love to hear and read articles on it. I know I have sinned a lot and regret very much now. I am sorry to say this during Ramadhan. My husband drinks, he is a womanizer. I am the most unlucky wife who had to witness him sleep with another woman. After this incident, I was totally broken down. I lost all hopes of life, excuse me, I even thought to die. I am much younger than my husband, my husband had an affair with a married women who had kids too. I thought about my children, their future. I was so confused. I started to pray. I prayed five times and prayed in the midnight. I could not sleep, could not eat and I was questioning why did he do this with me. I had spent the most sum of my money for him and his family. I never gave anything for my family, in spite of all this Why? I cried and asked Allah why this test with me. Now During Ramadhan, I am pregrant hardly one month, I am trying to fast as many days as I can. I am asking Allah to guide him. Because I presume their relationship is still ongoing. In spite of me witnessing it, he was not guilty at all of his mistake. I am sacred if my children will also be guided in the wrong. Please pray for me to ALLAH to guide my husband on the right path. Because I have no one other than him, I left my family, relative everything behind for him and now he is continuing this what should I do to get him to pray. Please advice me as per Islam what is my part in trying to help him to be guided in the right path. Please answer as soon as possible. It will be of great help to me. Insha ALLAh ! I Hope my husband is guided on the right path by ALLAH. "ALLAH had revealed the Qur'an during this holy month of Ramadhan as guidance for whole of mankind, I am sure He will guide him and that Muslim lady also who had slept with him. Please pray for me. I am sorry I do not want to disclose my name. Anonymous UAE Answer: Even though it may not be possible for most people to be able to fully appreciate the mental and emotional trauma that you have gone through in the past, yet I commend you greatly for not having lost hope in God's mercy and love even after what you have already gone through. I am sure that most women in your position would already have broken their relationship with their unfaithful husband, especially under the circumstances that he is not even ashamed at having done what he has done and for taking you through the mental and emotional torture that he has made you suffer. There is hardly a word that I can write, which may comfort you or add to what you have already been doing in combating the dire circumstances that you are faced with. All I can think of offering is a reminder of one of the greatest realities that man must acknowledge during the life of this world: We must always keep reminding ourselves that however hard this life may seem to us, it will soon come to an end, terminating all our traumas and tortures in this world. Nevertheless, the end of this worldly life shall not be an end to life itself. It will only be the end of our test. Soon, we shall have to face the reward and punishment for our performance during the test entailed in this life. We must also remember that according to the Qur'an, one of the most significant qualities, in return of which one qualifies for the rewards or Paradise is steadfastness and patience. The Qur'an says: And He shall grant them - because of their steadfastness - Gardens of bliss and garments of silk. ( Al-Insaan 76: 12) It may be worth mentioning here that the desired steadfastness and patience in the, sometimes, long and tiresome journey of the life of this world is only possible if one has unwavering trust in God's decisions and directives. May the Almighty bless you in the life of this world as well as in the hereafter. As for your concern about your husband's and children's welfare and wellbeing in the hereafter, I do not consider anything to be more effective in positively modifying human behavior than love and affection, kindness and mercy and setting an example of high moral standards in interaction with others and most of all, sincere prayers coming from a heart that never loses hope in God's mercy and has unshakeable trust and reliance in His wisdom and knowledge. I assure you not only of my own sincere prayers for ease in your tests during the life of this world, but also of all those, who read your letter. Always remember that our Creator loves us more than we can even imagine and He would never put us in a test in which we are bound to lose our trust in Him. However, it is only He, Who knows the true boundaries of the strength of our faith in Him. My fond regards and prayers for you and all your loved ones. Moiz Amjad November 20, 2002
