Nauman Ilyas Answer: It is a part of general decency and good manners to sit down for eating and drinking. It is in the same spirit that the Prophet (pbuh) is also reported to have directed people to take a seat while drinking and to eat and drink slowly, in a dignified manner. Thus, as a part of good manners, one should generally try to take a seat, while eating and drinking and should eat and drink in a slow and dignified manner.
