Question

Title: Decorating one's House with Candles Question: Is it permissible in Islam to decorate your home with candle stands and/or candles? Answer: There is no harm in decorating your house with candle stands or candles. It is extremely important to understand that nothing can be termed as prohibited or haraam in the Shari`ah without a clear directive of the Qur'an or Sunnah to this effect. It is the duty of the person who believes that decorating one's house with candles is prohibited in the Shari`ah to provide a clear basis of his opinion from the Qur'an or the Sunnah . In the absence of any such clear basis, I may express my liking or disliking for a certain thing, however I do not have the right to term my dislikes as " haraam " or prohibited in Islam. 31 st March 1999
