Title: Concerns for the Validity of Marriage due to Premarital Sexual Relations Question: My question is probably of an unusual nature and inshallah I will find an answer. I reverted to Islaam 6 years ago. I met my husband a year later. We had a un halaal relationship and it was only last year we got married so that our relationship would be halaal . I am not living with him at present I am living with my parents who are Hindu. Please could you tell me if this marriage is valid and I would appreciate any advice that could direct me in resolving me situation. thank you your sister Saleha Answer: In my opinion, the referred marriage was the best option available to both the parties involved in the premarital sexual relationship. I am, therefore, of the opinion that if the referred marriage meets all the legal requirements for marriage, then such a marriage is valid. However, to save yourself from the grievous consequences in the hereafter, I would implore you and your husband to seek forgiveness from the Almighty for committing the very serious crime of fornication. While seeking forgiveness, you must not forget that true repentance and correction, even after fornication is not only guaranteed forgiveness in the hereafter, but is also promised the replacement of bad deeds with good ones in the hereafter.
