Question

Title: Change of Name After Marriage Question: Usually in Pakistan the name of the bride is changed by replacing her father's name with husband's name. Does Shariah has any objection on that? Answer: Under the Shari'ah (i.e. Islamic Law) a woman has the right to keep her name or change it as she pleases. Hence, there is no objection to the said situation. I hope I have clarified the issue. God knows best. Ronnie Hassan May 13, 2005
