Can we Point our Legs toward the Ka`bah?
Question
Title: Can we Point our Legs toward the Ka`bah ? Question: Is it right that we Muslims should not focus our legs towards Kab`ah ? Answer: The Ka`bah being the center of our worship, all true Muslims are and should be very respectful toward it. This implies that Muslims should not do any such thing, which in their own understanding and perception is a sign of disrespect toward the Ka`bah . Nevertheless, it should be kept in mind that there may be a difference in the understanding and perception of what constitute a disrespectful act and what does not, between individuals. One person may consider stretching your legs toward the Ka`bah as a sign of irreverence and disrespect toward it, while another may not. Under these circumstances, I am of the opinion that if the individual considers such an act to be a show of disrespect, then he should avoid doing so. The foregoing should adequately clarify that a person should not point his legs toward the Ka`bah , with the intention of showing disrespect toward it. However, in the absence of such an abhorrent intention, the stated action cannot be considered as prohibited. I hope this helps. Regards, August 22, 2001
