Are we Accountable for Each Penny that we Spend?
Question
Title: Are we Accountable for Each Penny that we Spend? Question: I have been told that we as Muslims are accountable for every cent we spend in this world... is this true? Yasmeen Kahn Turkey Answer: Yes, this is indeed true not only for Muslims but also for every human being. We need to keep in mind that we shall be held accountable for every single deed that we do in this present life. The Qur'an has shed light on this thorough and deep examination of our actions in following words: And whosoever does good of an atom's weight will see it then. And whosoever does evil of an atom's weight will see it then. (99:7 - 8) It is clear that spending money for various things in life is one of the deeds that we do. Any money that is squandered for items that are prohibited or which entail any immoral or unethical element, shall indeed be considered as an impious deed of a person [1] .
