‘Prohibitions’ Mentioned in Sunnah
Topic Under Discussion Some Questions relating to Sunnah Question Question from India Could you please list all the 'prohibitions' that come as a part of Sunnah ? Thanks & Regards, Ameen Answer I have given my understanding of the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh), in a number of my earlier responses. It should be clear from these responses that the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) does not consist of any 'prohibitions'. As for the 'prohibitions' mentioned in narratives ascribed to the Prophet (pbuh), they generally relate to the explanation and application of either any of the principles given in the Qur'an or those entailed in the inherent nature of man or those, which are a clearly required by man's common sense and accepted knowledge. Although it is quite difficult to provide an exhaustive list of such 'prohibitions', yet a close study of the narratives ascribed to the Prophet (pbuh) would show that any apparently additional 'prohibitions' ascribed to the Prophet (pbuh) belong to the categories given above. I hope this helps. Regards, Moiz Amjad November 14, 2001 Answer published by Moiz Amjad Other Discussion(s) related to the Question Is the Method of Determining Sunnah Inconsistent?
