Further Query regarding Allowable Food
Title: Further Query regarding Allowable Food Question/Comments: You say every thing which is tayyib (suitable) is allowable. If some person declares some thing like snake or flesh of some carnivorous animals as suitable for eating to him, then would it be allowed? Dr M Asif Answer: It is not the declaration of an individual or a person that would render things Tayyib (suitable for eating) or otherwise. On the contrary, it is the attitude of the humankind, in general, on the basis of which we have classified things as suitable or unsuitable for eating. Indeed, there have been deviations in this field, but these deviations have been seen as 'deviations' by the humankind, in general. Thus, things like snakes and flesh of some carnivorous animals would not become 'suitable for eating' merely by the declaration of a few individuals or even a secluded society, if these things have not been considered as such, by the humankind, in general. I hope this helps. Regards, Moiz Amjad December 18, 2001
