Further Clarification of Al-Ahzaab 33: 72
Title: Further Clarification of Al-Ahzaab 33: 72 Question/Comments: I really appreciate that you answer questions that are not usually liked to be answered by our molanas on the basis of not having a right to ask these types of questions by humans. Thanks for everything. The Qur'an says: "We offered the trust (i.e. al-amanah ) to the heavens, the earth and the mountains but they refused to carry this burden and were scared of doing so, but man undertook to bear it. Man is prone to crossing his limits (over-estimating himself) and prone to taking emotional decisions." ( Al-Ahzaab 33: 72) I would like to know why the angels and jinn were not offered the same "Trust" i.e. free will? How jinn came to have a same "trust" as humans have? May God reward you for your every effort. Jazzakallah khairun Nauman Ilyas Answer: In the referred verse, the Qur'an has not stated that humans accepted the Trust in contrast to the Jinn and the angels. On the contrary, in this verse, humans have been contrasted with the earth, the mountains etc. The verse, in my opinion, should not be construed to imply a negation of the "amanah" for all other beings, besides the human race. On the contrary, the verse has only contrasted the human race with some other, generally observable, things. Furthermore, it is beyond the scope of my knowledge and comprehension to give an opinion regarding why or why not did God offer a particular quality to one creation and not to another. I hope this helps. Regards, Moiz Amjad March 20, 2002
