Elaboration Requested…
Title: Elaboration Requested... Question/Comments: Hi there, I'd like to query what was written in the last paragraph. Are you saying this (?): although the responsibility of encouraging Islam among collective lot of people, does not rest with one individual, because he or she's living among a society that doesn't practice Islam to their full ability, that individual ceases to become a Muslim? I live in England, a kuffar country. Does that make me kuffar ? I know I'm not as I follow the Qur'an to the best of my ability and conversance, and always seek to do more at any given opportunity. Answer: The last paragraph of my referred response , reads as: Thus, because the Qur'an does not put the responsibility of the correction of the collectivity on the common man living in that collectivity, therefore we cannot say that if the collectivity is devoid of Islamic values, the individuals living in that collectivity cease to be Muslims. Please note the underlined phrase of the quote. What I imply is that if the collectivity is not living, or avoids living, according to the Islamic directives, the responsibility of this deviation would be on the legal representatives (i.e. those in charge of the affairs and those who had the legal authority to correct the situation) of that collectivity. Islam holds every individual responsible only within his own sphere of authority in life. Thus, an individual who tries to live his life in conjunction with the directives of Islam, in a society devoid of Islamic values, shall insha'Allah be rewarded for his adherence to the directives of God and His Prophet (pbuh) and shall not be held responsible for the deviant nature of the society. However, those who were put in charge of the affairs of the society shall indeed be held accountable for the deviations of the whole society and asked about the actions they took for bringing the society back on the path of 'submission to God' - i.e. Islam. 17 th January 2000
