A Brief Comment on “Does
Allah Forgive Shirk?“
I was going through the articles in your
web-site and came across this one. Did Abraham (pbuh) Commit shirk:
The explanation given by the scholar is something worth a praise. Even for a Muslim
like me, doubts crept in, as to how a mature Ibrahim (pbuh) could assume
celestial bodies as God. But out of fear and full belief in Allah and the
prophet my doubts were subdued.
Further to the explanation given by the scholar, that one day Abraham (pbuh)
decided to take up the task of pointing out to the worshippers of the celestial
bodies the fact that their belief was absolutely baseless, unfounded and
illogical. I have something to add here.
Since I am have been a Mathematics student, I have come across this situation. I
think this is worth noting.
Many problems in Mathematics, require proving or disproving a certain statement.
In doing so, mathematicians, often take the following approach. Suppose a
certain statement is to be proved false. The approach taken is, assume the
statement to be true, and then through a sequence of logical
steps, disprove your assumption that the statement which you have assumed
to be true. Hence it is proved that the statement is false. I am not sure if
this small contribution out of my limited knowledge would be of any use to
renowned scholars like you, however I am writing this with the sole intention of
pleasing Allah. May Allah accept my contribution.
Jazak Allah
